ArcelorMittal Belval & Differdange (Phase 2)
Mission
After carrying out the project to optimize the supply chain, STREMLER AG was also commissioned for the final phase of the operational implementation. For the rolling mill of the ArcelorMittal plant in Belval, an integrated, access-based campaign planning tool had to be designed and implemented based on the existing SAP landscape.
ArcelorMittal's project business, with changes to delivery dates, quantities and specifications, sometimes at short notice, requires a high level of reactivity from the planning tool and the control of operational processes.
Solution and Work Process
The planning and control was designed on the basis of a pull principle, with the aim of closely synchronizing production and market, taking into account
the current demand situation
the manufacturing status
as well the stock situation
This objective is achieved by means of a high planning frequency in connection with a short “frozen zone” and integrated net material management. With simple operation and automated processes as well as flexible handling, the tool significantly increases the quality of planning and control.
Results
The supply chain efficiency of the ArcelorMittal Belval Train 2 plant was significantly increased in several respects:
Optimization of planning for optimal use of resources
Improve planning quality Increase decision security and efficiency of meetings
Reduction of inventory Improvement
Stabilization of delivery dates to the customer
